Group chat

A teacher creates a separate chat with a name, an activity and one or more groups from the same school. Teachers open Groups, select a group and open Group chat. Only the teacher who created a chat manages and reads it; other teachers and administrators do not automatically have access. Start a new chat for another activity to keep its history separate.

On the group page, expand Group chats to open your existing chats for this group or choose New chat. The group is already selected in the creation dialog. Use Archived chats to find archived conversations.

Students open the expandable Group chats panel on the dashboard, directly below Lessons. It lists all accessible group chats. The student menu no longer contains a Groups button.

New chat​

Chat name → Groups → Activity → New chat

Select up to 20 groups from the same school.

  • Discuss together: Think independently first. Discuss your ideas and write a focused AI question together. Check the answer and write your own conclusion.
  • Solve together: Share your own attempt first. Ask for one hint, then continue yourselves. Explain what you now understand.
  • Check AI: Choose an AI claim. Check it against a textbook or independent source. Explain what is correct, missing or still uncertain.
  • Debate or role-play: Agree on a position or role. Ask AI for one counterargument or response. Discuss its assumptions and formulate your reply.
  • Compare feedback: Agree on criteria and give each other feedback first. Then compare it with AI feedback. Explain which advice you use and why.
  • Reflect: Describe what you learned, which AI help was useful and what you can now do independently. Try a similar task without AI.

Ask AI​

Give each student one request or access until revoked. One-time permission is used when the request starts, even if it fails.

Select 1 to 20 messages. Only these messages and your question are included.

Chat options​

Use Reply below a message to respond to it. The teacher can pin up to five messages, such as criteria or a conclusion. Chat options lets the teacher archive and reopen the chat. Archived chats remain readable while you have access, but accept no messages or AI requests. New group members see the available history; leaving all selected groups removes access. School policies and retention periods still apply.

Open the activity and student permissions using the toolbar icons; both open in a dialog. Pinned messages are under Chat options. View AI request only shows the earlier request and does not request another answer.

WhatsApp
